I bought some canola oil today that has beta carotene in it and I am going to use it it to color some of my batches. However, it also contains dimethicone. I was wondering if dimethicone in the oil will adversely affect the soap?

Will be fine. The cone was probably added as an anti-foaming agent, but it won't impact the soap at the level it will be in your soap.

Even at 100%? I love some good old fashion canola oil soap!

But in all honesty, thats good to know. I picked up both coconut and canola oils today with beta-carotene as additives. I just want to see what kind of color I can get with them at low concentrations and match it to a nice FO.

I feel like a mad scientist right now muhaha

100% canola? DOS is likely to be an issue.
Or are you just kidding with me?

Try throwing some annatto seeds in oil for a few days or weeks - that'll give you a lovely yellow-orange.
