I'm trying to do some R&D for a new after shave product. Currently I sell an alcohol free aftershave lotion and I use calendula and buckthorn extracts for their anti-irritating properties. The extracts I use are oil soluble and won't emulsify with water soluble products without a liason. I'm looking to make an aftershave splash-like product (sans alcohol) with aloe vera liquid and distilled water as the base and I'm having a difficult time finding water soluble extracts. If possible, I'd like to not have to use emulsifiers because I don't want a thick product.
