SoapCalc has Tallow-Beef, Tallow-Deer, and Tallow-Sheep
Which do you think is most closely related to Buffalo, as far as SAP goes?

I'm ready to try out my new tallow but I don't want to screw it up!

Beef, I'd imagine - but I have no particular reason for my opinion.

LOL you sound like me.. I figure a Buffalo LOOKS more like a cow  but I think I've heard that Buffalo were extremely lean, so maybe more like Deer as far as tallow goes.. ???

Okay - not an expert here - but I do understand that the meat is very like Beef just leaner. I think you could use the same soaping values as Beef - but I'm basing this on how it's cooked.....

I did a websearch for buffalo tallow SAP, and the few results available show that people use the SAP for beef tallow. There is a Yahoo Group called "Tallow Soapers" (you have to be a member to see the posts) which has many threads discussing it. I joined, despite being a veg and never planning to use tallow, just to check it out!
