We are somewhat new here. We spent $800 and almost a year perfecting our recipe and we love the soap. We have just come to realize that it is causing our skin to be dry. We have 20% coconut, 60% tallow and some other oils. We think the problem is the coconut oil. Does anyone have ideas for what to substitute for the coconut oil? It has to replace the lather, cleaning, and sud producing elements of the coconut. 😭😭🥹😥

Here is a link to a thread discussing alternatives. Alternatives to Coconut Oil?
You could try removing the coconut oil adding 1 TBSP sugar PPO and 5% Castor oil to your recipe. Without knowing all of the ingredients, it is a little difficult to make suggestions. A castile soap is OK, but it takes several months of curing to become a good soap.

I agree with the prior suggestions to lower the CO and add some sugar, sorbitol, milk, or other form of sugar that will increase lather. Dual lye is another way to do that.

Remember that tallow also adds a bit to the cleansing value. You might consider 30% tallow, 30% lard for a less cleansing FA profile.
