I think it's the general consensus that most ingredients won't survive saponification.

If one wanted to use an herb with known benefits, how can one best get its effects through the soap? Hot process, maybe? I'm assuming that adding at trace will do little good since the soap will still be saponifying.
 
I'd say right at the end of hot process, unless the high heat would affect the herb, too... which I assume it would.
 
It's a dried herb that under normal circumstances requires heat to express its benefits. I'll have to look up the temp range needed. I'm certain it's 100F+.
