I really messed up this time. I poured all these oils together and it wasn't the recipe I was doing, it was what came in a kit. So, I have all these oils mixed together and I don't know how much lye to use. this is what I mixed.
1 lb castor oil
2 lbs coconut oil
1 lb. palm oil
2 lbs rice bran oil
1 lb cocoa butter:sad:

does it matter what oils you use? want to remeasure but it's all together so I want to double check.

Yes- the oils matter greatly, for each has its own unique SAP#. The SAP# refers to how much lye is required to saponify any given oil oil/fat. I would not try to re-measure since they are all mixed together now and there is no way to separate them out from each other.

I typed your oil amounts into SoapCalc, and the following is the proper amount of lye to use to saponify the whole mixture if you are going to use the default 5% lye discount/superfat:

15.661 oz. weight lye

And the default water amount is:

42.560 oz. weight water
