Just curious...has anyone here ever tried lining the entire inside of a box or mold with clear packing tape (shiny side up, obviously) as a semi-permanent liner?? Will the lye eat right through it?? Got the idea while taping up a box for a mold earlier today.

I've done it, and it works fine as long as you don't get wrinkles in the tape. It doesn't hold up for long, though - gets flimsy.

I tried it with clear contact (book covering stuff) recently and the soap stuck to it and was extremely difficult to unmould. I'm always interested in ways to get out of lining the moulds, but unfortunately this didn't work and I went back to freezer paper (even though I have the Soap Making Resource no-liner moulds which I now prefer to line).
