lavender buds on top

Does anyone put lavender buds on top of their soap? I'm having issues with the lavender being dragged through the soap when I cut. Any suggestions on how to avoid or minimize this? See the lines that go down from the top to between the words "and Buds".

Turn the loaf upside down when you cut it.

Or on its side if you are worried about smashing the top.

I turn mine on the side and cut, and only rarely get drag marks from a stray sneaky bud. And on a related note, I'm finding that spritzing the buds atop my soap with rubbing alcohol really does help them retain their color.

Oh, thanks for the alcohol tip! I was wondering about that too! Anyway to help them stick better? Or just put them on when the soap is softer?
