Gel Stage

Hope this is not a silly question.

I have made many batches of CP Soap and I got to thinking can you over gel or over heat Cold Process soap.

Does this mess with the soap?

Oh..... yes you can...... I had one that overheated and the oil separated so bad I had to rebatch... I didn't force gel but did add stearic and shea to that batch... Needless to say that was my first and last time I added those to my soap...

I CPOP and have left mine "cooking" at 170* for up to two hours, then left them in the hot oven. I do use covered wood molds. I guess this is where the recipe and additives come in.
