I'm thinking of doing a layered soap for my next project. I've read several instructions, and some say to pour the first layer into the mold, put the mold in the fridge/freezer, then work on the second layer.

My question is, after pouring the second layer on top of the first layer and insulating to let the soap gel, will the first layer's time in the fridge affect its ability to gel?

I layer pretty frequently and I don't put it in the fridge. I do wait until the first layer firms up a bit, then carefully spoon the next layer on.

I do it all at one time. I usually layer more of a medium trace and carefully spoon each layer on top of the other so they don't break through. So far so good! I've never done the refrigerator thing.
