I think this all had to do with people not really using soap to bath, but as decorative pieces. There is also the Geek factor that many people are not aware of. People in their twenties enjoy their gadgets and take great pleasure in having soaps that resemble things like remote controls and Ipods. Basically, anything that qualifies as HighTech will do.
