Nope nothing survived. He inherited my old tablet and reader and got a new phone through his insurance. Needless to say he doesn't let mum near his clothes anymore.

I have also heard that if you put a phone into rice it can help dry it out and perhaps save it. My sister has also dropped hers in the toilet a lot.

I hear the new Android phones are waterproof....just sayin'.

I picked up somewhere that in the Japanese market almost all the phones are. Seems kind of silly that hardly any on our market are. I remember when I was kid it was pretty standard that water resistance was the mark of a good product. Almost all watches bragged about the depth they could survive, like accidentally diving to 30 meters was a common occurrence. Anybody care to remember those yellow walkmen with the gaskets and clamp that closed over the buttons? They were "rad".
