I have been working with some of my favorite recipes to discount the water for a faster cure.

I would like to try discounting on salt bars. Anyone tried it? I would think it would trace pretty fast, so I would plan on just stirring by hand.

Any tips?

I'm with nattynoo- I never discount water in my salt bars. My lye to water ratio for my salt bars is Lye x 2.5 water, or a 28% lye solution. With all that salt, they need that extra bit of water for me to be able to slice my batch into bars with the least amount of crumbling.

Good point. Thanks for the replies Irish & natty. I didn't think about crumbling. Guess I'll behave myself and experiment elsewhere. I wanted more bars for a November market.
