I just recently watched a video on how to make the candle fruit pies. What I did not learn from the video, is the final layer of wax that they poured over the whole pie that was clear and shiny. They just used a little bit like on the pecan pie to make the embeds stick to the rest of the candle. Anyone know what this wax might be? It was a youtube video by hat creek candles. Thanks for any info or ideas.

thanks so much for the info. so I guess it is alright to pour a pie candel with a pariffin blend, then put a little gel wax ontop?

Thanks

Hi,

There are a few tricks with using wax alongside candle gel ...
one of them being the meltpoint of the wax you are using.
It's best if you purchase a high meltpoint wax for your fruit
pieces ... that way, they are less likely to melt when the gel
is poured. This would be a "hurricane" type of wax ... I think
the mp is around 155 degrees, but it's been a while since I've
purchased any, so I could be off a few degrees!

As for the gel, you would need to acquire a medium density,
not the light density gel. What type of wick did they use in
the video? I've always used zinc core wicks for these types
with good results. I used to make little pies that turned out
really nicely, although haven't done it recently. I'd be glad to
offer any advice, if needed!
