Happy Friday! I have got a couple questions regarding overheating that I am hoping y'all can answer- Can an fo cause a soap to overheat? Can a soap that is soaped cool and put in the mold in a cool room overheat? Can someone post a picture of overheated soap? Thanks for any replies :)

I know too hot could = a volcano, but could soaping cooler somehow negatively affect your soap? By cooler, I mean my lye/ milk mixture is barely warm (I haven't been temping but mix my frozen gm in with my lye and put it in an ice bath while I mix oils) and my oils are touchable warm. Thanks...

Thanks for the reply. If it is the sugar, what am I doing (or not doing) to make these spots? This is the first time I've seen them. The fo was different but everything else the same. Is it still usable? Also, I can't find a picture of DOS, do you have link for one? Merry Christmas! :)

I added the sugar to the milk/ lye solution (I forgot to say I use goat milk, sorry). I have done it in the other batches without a problem. I add the sugar after I let the milk and lye cool, just before I mix everything together. The spots didn't show up immediately. They were not there the...

Thanks for the replies. This is a new recipe that I have made about 5 times (with a different scent). This is the first time I have got spots- also the first time I used Lovespell. It is cp. I added the fo to the oils. I added a teaspoon of sugar too- but have done that with the others...

I am sad! Something funky is going on with my soap! It was the first time I soaped with the fo (Lovespell). It has been curing in the closet for 3 weeks... Is this DOS? If not, what is it? What can I do to prevent this? What causes this? I am so bummed! Thanks for any replies...

Thanks for the quick reply. I have always put wax paper on mine too until recently (I ran out and forgot to buy more). I didn't notice a difference though. What is the reason for putting wax paper on?

I cp soap using goat's milk and don't gel. I am anxiously awaiting a big log mold that I know will hold more heat than the molds I am using now. Is there any reason why I should put the lid on it? The closet I put my soaps in is pretty cold (65ish). This should not have an affect on my soap...
