    NG Chanel No. 5

sorry, i missed reading this last time. i wish i had some photos of my soap. truth is, i've never posted a single photo of anything i've made online, soap or otherwise. the only person on a soap forum who has seen my soap is someone who i did a swap over a year ago. let me know if ever you want...

    Speed Up the Curing Process

the only time i was in hurry to cure my soap was when i made my first few batches. i'm much more patient these days.

    containers to mix lye

thank you for that IrishLass. i might just continue using my saucepan, then. while the lid isn't airtight, i try to keep it in a hard to get at spot. the problem i think i'll have with the plastic lids is that if they are airtight, i may have difficulty removing them and may splash myself. i'm...

    NG Chanel No. 5

i mixed my FO with kaolin and TD, then added it to the oils before adding the lye. the first time i made it, i remember it was a hot day and i put the mould in the sun to assist gel. i have also made it without gelling and the result was a paler colour. again i added TD and clay.

    NG Chanel No. 5

no 5 is my signature scent and i use it every day (the perfume). i've soaped NG's chanel no 5. it isn't a true duplicate, but is still gorgeous and doesn't have any unpleasant notes, iykwim. it is one of my favourite soaps, if not the favourite - my other favourite is neroli. i used TD and it...

    containers to mix lye

i have been mixing my lye in a stainless steel saucepan (in the laundry where all my other soap stuff lives - too risky in the kitchen) and have seen you tube videos and other people mention that they ix their lye in plastic buckets. i am assuming it is safe to mix lye in plastic containers but...

    Lye Water

i was going to say i'd be happy to split an order with you, but i think you would use the box up yourself in no time. african drumming? that must be big - they were advertising that in my daughter's school email

does everyone have ash, or is it just me?

so one can still get ash irrespective of whether we gel or not. has there been any scientific mind out there who can enlighteb us as to why we get ash? it's something oxide because we only have it if the surface is exposed to air.

    Lye Water

i've asked around for coconut oil, but the only place they seem to have it is at those indian shops, and only in piddly quantities. even though i only make soap for ourselves, i still like buying in bulk, that way it's all there and i can soap to my little heart's desire. relle, have you met...

does everyone have ash, or is it just me?

i do deal with the ash, but sometimes it would be nice to have some control over how things turn out; probably not realistic in the world of saop, but i'd like to give it a try.

    Lye Water

the shire? i've been going down there quite a bit lately - illawong, lugarno, panania, san souci (met some new friends)...many soapers where you are? i've only ever met one other person in real life who has made soap (out of curiousity, i think), and he lives in the city.

    zapping soap

lol. i remember i was so impatient when i made my first batches of soap, but i've really improved since then. it was the same when i made cakes. it improves with time.
