I forgot I asked this question. :oops: Thanks for the reply. The reason I'm wondering is, isn't olive oil supposed to make a harder soap? So if I used some olive oil instead of the full amount of sunflower oil, would it make the soap harder?

I am very much a soap newbie, so hopefully this isn't toooo dumb of a question. :lol: Can you substitute or partially substitute oils in soap recipes? For instance, if a recipe calls for sunflower oil, could I a couple of ounces of olive oil instead of the full amount of sunflower oil?

Nope, they're shampoo bars. What makes a syndet bar, though?

Well, I think they're shampoo, but I guess I'm not sure what syndet bars are.

Thank you! :) I've only used the shampoo bar once, but so far I like it. I was using shampoo bars from a place in Iowa that sells them, and loved them from there. So far I don't notice any tremendous difference, which is good. :) Heartsong: The link doesn't seem to be working. :(

Does anybody know of any place to buy soap making ingredients for "cheap"? Maybe in bulk, or something? Things like coconut oil, castor oil, etc.

My sister and I just made our first batch of bar shampoo a couple days ago. I thought I'd join here and get ideas for new recipes, and tips for making shampoo/soap. Ariel
