I have some coconut oil that went bad after prolonged exposure to heat. I can tell that it's definitely gone bad because it has an off smell. Given that, I'm no longer inclined to use it for cosmetic purposes (I use it as a facial moisturizer) but I would really hate to waste it. I'm aware of some other uses like home cleaners, wood polish and lamp oil but is it safe to use for soap?

I am currently using some mango butter than went rancid in soap. I am using it at about 5-10%. I have had no problems with the soap smelling off (one batch was unscented), DOS, anything like that. I will say that the recipes seem to get thick FAST. But maybe that's just b/c of mango butter in general. I only used it it in lotion bars, etc, until now.
