If I was to replace some of my Rice bran oil for some shea butter say for a 4.5 lb batch where I usually use 8 oz RBO how much should I take out & replace with Shea butter? I'm happy with my recipe & my batch size but I'd like to start adding some shea & I think I have plenty of Olive oil & RBO so I figure I could take out some RBO & add the shea but.... how much for how much?

are you familiar with the soap calc? just plug your amts in there and see what kind of numbers you get, you cant swap out without checking how much water and lye youll need.

Without knowing the proportions of your total recipe, I'd maybe reformulate with shea butter as no more than 10% of your total. Make sure to run your revised recipe through a lye calculator.

Shea in large quantity can contribute to ash in the finished soap, especially if you don't gel. 5-10% shouldn't be problematic.

Good luck and enjoy!
