Hi All
I made my very first batch of green tea soaps and its looking all brown. Infact if it continues to look this way it will pass for a chocolate / coffee soap. i donno what has gone wrong. here are the steps..

1> made a strong green tea solution in water.
2> let the solution cool.
3> added a pinch of sugar (since i was making only 4 bars)
4> added lye to the cooled solution

till here the solution had a nice dark green shade

Mixed the following oils and added those at 90degrees celsius to the lye

1> olive oil
2>palm oil
3>castor oil
4>sunflower oil

as soon as i added oils the mixture turned brown. it took very long to trace and finally i was so tired that i poured into molds in a semi solid state. i added lemongrass EO to it.

this is how the soaps look

can anyone help me with this?

when I made soap with a green tea liquid- it also turned brown-
now when I make green tea soap- I just open up the tea bag and sprinkle the dry tea into the traced soap and mix it in- get kind of a "herbal" look to the soap with the specks of green tea in it.

I didn't like the look of brown- Green Tea soap either!
