I am making a variety of single oil soaps and made one with crisco. It surprised me that the pure white Crisco turned a pink-tan color. The color has faded somewhat but is still far from white. Here is a photo of 100% Crisco on the left compared to 100% lard on the right. My 100% coconut oil soap was pure white.

Is it plain Crisco? That normally results in pure white soap

Yes, pure white name brand Crisco, 5% superfat and no other additives-- just water, lye, and Crisco. It is the Crisco that includes some palm. I was expecting a white soap. Any theories as to why my soap is not white?
