Hi,

I'm a newbie to soap making. i have enjoyed lurking around here and reading all your wonderful advice, thanks!

I have a question - in Costco I found 100% organic, extra virgin, pure, unrefined cold pressed coconut oil? Is this ok to use? In my first and only batch, I used Coconut oil with 76 melting point.

Thanks in advance!!

Yes that is fine. Both virgin and hydrogenated coconut oils will make soap equally well.

I didn't know you could buy CO at Costco.

Neither did I! How much is it?

You can get two pound jars at Walmart super centers for about 6 dollars as a point of comparison. It's not extra virgin though.

yes, that should be fine but I have always found the organic extra virgin to be very pricey, so I would be interested to know the price, too!

Just for comparison, the Soapers Choice CO, Extra Virgin, Organic, is $4.76/lb in 7lb bottles. Refined, certified organic is only $2.68/lb in 7lb bottles. Plain old food grade 76 degree CO is $2.00/lb in 7/lb bottles.
