I'd like to make some bars which are round but also smooth so no corners, like an ovoid.

Is the soap going to be able to saponify in the mold is or this sort of mold really for melt and pour soaps?

Would the silicone survive the lye?

Yes, you can use silicone. Shouldn't be an issue with the soap batter. Yes, it will make soap but likely take longer to saponify than in a loaf and will also probably not gel unless you put it in a warmed oven (heated and turned off). I pretty much only use silicone lined molds now. Sometimes individual molds (salt bars).
