Goats milk recipe HP vs. CP (with pics)

Thanks. Obviously the pics do not do any justice here but the white one is a creamy white. Its interesting; these are the exact same recipes but a day apart and left is CP and right is HP.

Goats milk recipe HP vs. CP (with pics)

I choose to use raw fresh goatsmilk rather than something from a can. Just a personal preference. I promised pics:

Goats milk recipe HP vs. CP (with pics)

I'm spending the last few days making 2lbs batches testing out a house recipe using goats milk. I've been trying to achieve a white bar and yesterday I was able to do so with CP method. I did not let it gel and its a great white color however it's still soft like my 100% olive oil version. I...

    Reusing kitchen fat

Nevada: "Ingredients: Prepared from lard and hydrogenated lard, bha, propyl gallate, and citric acid added to protect flavor." Pretty much 99% of grocery store "lard" is made to stay on a store shelf. I render my own lard but don't like the smell in my soaps. That being said, I asked the...

    Reusing kitchen fat

Anyone ever make soaps from re-used kitchen fats? I was thinking of making soap from clean fat from the fryer, etc. Clean fat meaning heat water and add all fat, boil, then cool. The water will separate the fat and the food and crud falls into the water. How would I use this in a lye calculator?

Using spices to color a soap

A few questions. I am aware that cinnamon can irritate the skin in some people. What about cloves, or nutmeg? I'm looking to make a bay rum soap and a nice warm brown would appeal to me. Cocoa powder? Do these natural spices add fragrance to the soaps or does the lye break down the aromas...

    Freezing water for lye

I measure in weight for my calculations. 8oz water is by weight so if frozen or thawed is the same deal.

    Freezing water for lye

Does anyone freeze their water and then add the lye to ice cubes? I seem to be having amazing results with my fresh goats milk CP soaps when I do this because the lye and fats are so close in temperature and I seem to make soap in the time it takes to make a quick meal. I want to make a 100%...

    Using patchouli leaves

Does anyone have advice for using the leaves or ground leaves into a powder for a patchouli soap similar to the Zum patchouli bar? I just picked up 1lbs of dried leaves and really love the scent but assume the scent will only come from the EO.

Goats milk soap questions: cold lye

Great responses. So am I correct in understanding in that when my lye and milk solution is lower than 70deg and my fats are near 90deg I should not really be too concerned?

Goats milk soap questions: cold lye

Made my first batch of 100% goats milk (fresh). Seems like I'm finding conflicting data. 1. Using soap calcs, do I just replace water with the milk? Some sites are saying use 6.5oz for every 8oz water. Others say to use 1:1 can someone clarify? 2. I froze the milk, added the lye in small...

    Using Dragons blood

Should I add dragons blood ground powder at trace or should I infuse some of my fats? Any experiences with dragons blood? I have a bunch of chunks and was thinking of using some for a mans soap.

    How to use natural colorants

I rolled with 2T of dried basil powdered in a mortar. We'll see. Its smells awesome, but I assume that may fade. Its being blended with lemongrass EO and a wee bit verbena FO.

    How to use natural colorants

I just may do that. My only concern is will I be washing myself with coal and turn black?

    palm oil substitute?

Again, Spectrum shortening in the hippy section is now available at most grocery stores. Its completely void of deforestation concerns and is organic. Its also not that expensive. Crisco has palm in it, but is destroying monkeys at the expense of its low cost.

It's sold here at many Arabic grocers used for burning hookah therefore there are no harsh chemicals or petrol components since this is eventually inhaled. It's just says "100% olive branch charcoal"

Ok. So if I want to add some sage or kelp powder at trace; how much per lb adds value to a batch?
