    Packaging Cold Process Soap

Awhile back, I tried some different papers for humid conditions. I was hoping the parchment paper would work because you could kind of see the color of the soap, but no tape/sticker would stick to it. Freezer paper worked the best as it has the waxy coating on the one side, but a little stiff...

    Lib Balm labels not sticking

A previous poster recommended roughing up the tubes with sandpaper before adhering the label. Definitely worked.

    Help me decide?

Brambleberry's 'Applejack Peel' is a good one - very cinnamony. Scent lasts.

    Shampoo Bar Video Tutorial

I've been using shampoo bars for 8 years. Quiz came out 'normal' and water float test came out 'low' porosity. :) Interesting theory!

    gelling milk soaps

Yes, Dragonmaker, some of my milk soaps turn a translucent color when gelling (heating), but then go back to the creamy opaque when cool.

Using PVC as a mold....having a few issues with it

I'm one of the whackers too. Line the 3" pvc with a little olive oil before filling with soap. Leave overnight. Smack it on the ground. Sometimes it slides right out. If it doesn't, then a 2" pvc with a cover pushes it through.

    Wrapping Soaps with Tissue Paper?

If you are using a 3" pvc pipe for your round soap, a roll of duct tape is a perfect fit. Cut a 8 1/2 inch diameter circle of paper (I have a bowl to trace around and use grease resistant paper from Nashville Wraps. I found if there's any humidity, the soap will stick to tissue paper - yuch)...

    To many scents

I agree with Anstarx about a signature scent from each family. (Yankee Candle used to arrange their stores by type of scent, but have changed the arrangement to color so it wouldn't be as overwhelming.) One person who comes in will love a particular scent and the next will hate it, but each seem...

Expert advice needed on shampoo bar....

Yes - I add a little sugar too - dissolve it in a little goat milk before adding. Be sure the rest of the goat milk is frozen before slowly adding and stirring in the lye (otherwise it will heat too much and turn orange) & then add the sugar milk last (before combining with the oils). Some...

Expert advice needed on shampoo bar....

I too, have been using Genny's shampoo bar recipe (with a substitution of goat milk for the water) for 7 years, absolutely love it, and will never go back to all the different shampoos and conditioners. Shoulder length fine hair, washing every 4 days, no rinse, no conditioner. I have never seen...

Using PVC as a soap mold

I did the same as Shirley, and sawed the 3" diameter pvc in half, making it 12" high. Each one will make eight 1 .25" - 1.50" slices. Many people have commented that they like how the round shape fits and feels in their hand.

    Sweet Cakes Suggestions for CP

'Clean' has been a favorite for 6+ years - very fresh - sticks well. Citron et Figue is a beautiful scent but did not work for me - crumbly, hole in the center. Both made with goat milk in pvc pipes.
