Our water softener is not working, we also have very hard water. Is it ok to soap with hard water? We have a reverse ossmosis filter and I always have used that water in the past for soaping, but it was softened. Should I just got pick up some distilled water to use for now?

What is the best way to use these oils? Can they be used a a base oil ( over 50%) Can you make a 100% sunflower or safflower oil soaps? Are they prone to DOS? Can these oils be a good alternative to olive oil? Thanks!

Thanks, I made the soap today and the ylang did over power the other EO's used, oh well. I didn't have any accelerating, if anything it made it take longer to get to trace after adding the EO. Next time I will add less ylang. Next time i want to try Ylang with bergamot or lemon grass.

I want to use a mix of frankincense EO and Ylang Ylang Eo in my next 3 lb batch of soap. I haven't done many batches with added EO so I don't know how much to add? And how do those EO's behave in CP? Any suggestions?

I will have to give the 80% OO 20% CO a try, did you use a 8% sf? We have a water softener so I have never had a problem with lather unless using hard water.

I'm in a small town in MN, Yes there prices do look high. I have looked for clays and the only one I can find at our local health food store are brown clays and green. I really want to try a red or a pink mixed with green.
