What soapy thing have you done today?

So, I have now reviewed my tests using Brambleberry's Oatmeal Milk Honey at 1.95% and Nurture Soap's Oatmeal Milk Honey at 3%. And the results can be summarised using a single onomatopoeia: meh. The Brambleberry one is ok-ish, the smell is very mild (well duh, it's at 1.95% instead of the old...

I need the SMF's members wise eyes please

I like your thinking @KiwiMoose ! @Mobjack Bay Thanks! It's NatureWax C3. I know GoldenWax 415 is the one that's recommended but it's impossible to find on our side of the Atlantic. Eurosoy 800 is not a workable option when adding import costs (they're in the UK and, well, Brexit). I can have...

I need the SMF's members wise eyes please

Thanks @KiwiMoose ! I do love the combined effect to the milk and oatmeal, but felt that with the CO itself not being very high the sugar did help in getting more bubbling action (it might also have very well been just myself convincing me of this, to be honest!)

    Stinky Beer Soap

One of my first tries was with beer and although I was warned it was going to stink I did NOT expect it to stink that much! I used a vanilla fragrance oil in that batch, and even after a rather long cure (2+ months) it still had a very odd smell so I threw it away and it was the end of my...

I need the SMF's members wise eyes please

Thanks for taking the time to reply @Marsi . I should have mentioned I have tried and liked it, but nothing is ever perfect in this world so I am curious to know what other people much more experienced than me think of it as feedback is always good to take! Editing now to specify that I did try...

I need the SMF's members wise eyes please

Hello everyone, In the eternal words of Julia Roberts in Notting Hill, I'm just a girl, standing in front of a whole forum of experts, asking them to critique her recipe. Yes she did say that, you know yourselves. As I'm both palm-free and vegan, this limits the possibilities to increase...

What soapy thing have you done today?

Zany to the rescue as always!! You truly are a soapyclopaedia Zany, good thing (for you) I don't have your phone number or it would definitely be on speed dial and with this little pesky time difference between Western Europe and Colorado I don't think it'd be well received :D As always, thank...

What soapy thing have you done today?

I made a second tiny batch of ZNSC to test the last three fragrance oils I had. I still had white flakes in my lye solution after dissolving the lye in the faux seawater (faux seawater was nuked for a little while after dissolving the salt and bicarb and let to cool down prior to adding the...

What soapy thing have you done today?

I have finally made a batch of @Zany_in_CO 's legendary ZNSC: I'm in the process of testing a couple of new fragrance oils so I thought it'd be a great idea to use a single-oil recipe for those and it'd allow me to try out both the promised wonderful Castile and at the same time try the...

    Suppliers in the Europe

OMG!!! I actually scratched my head for a few seconds trying to figure out what I originally meant to say and it was Brexit. Brexit-induced headaches :D Thanks for listing those two suppliers, it's always good to have a few selections! I have also found NI Candle Supplies (website here) for...

    Suppliers in the Europe

I found a few titbits here and there regarding suppliers in Europe for us soap makers on the other side of the pond, but since a few of those recs are from a while ago I thought it might be useful to open up a new thread. Here are are few suppliers that I found and have used on my end (including...

What soapy thing have you done today?

Out of the bottle, I prefer BB's as an Oatmeal Milk and Honey Fragrance. I do love NS's but to me it smells more like homemade frangipane (custard + almond cream), which is one of my all time favourite small in the world but not what I'm after here. I gave the soaps a sniff yesterday and the BB...

What soapy thing have you done today?

Now that I have received Brambleberry's new IFRA rates for their Oatmeal Milk and Honey (hereafter OMH) fragrance (if you're interested, the new IFRA 49 rate is 1.95% now), I decided to try 4 small batches of Oatmeal Milk and Honey. Batches 1 and 2 were made yesterday, and 3 and 4 today. Batches...
