Whoa, that is a HUGE difference! I had no idea. I wonder if it was the cocoa to blame? Or if it would've been that big of a difference without it. The dark one almost looks like the charcoal soap I have.

Depends really. I used to SF around 7%. If it's a salt soap, it's 20% (100% CO), and I just made 3 batches at 8%. So far I love the 8% ones. But that's not saying much since I've loved just about every batch I've made.

Hmm, I've only made 2 batches with charcoal and I will say that my top black swirls do look a little more dark grey than black, but I have a bit of ash. I tried a small piece in the shower yesterday though and once it got wet it looked great.

You'll love working with it. A little bit goes a LONG way. I want to make some more with black swirly/layers but I need more coconut oil :(

The few times I've tried shea in my lip balms they've went grainy too. I've heard that popping them in the fridge after pouring will keep them smooth but I haven't tried it. I've come up with my final (maybe? lol) recipe that I'm in love with that doesn't include shea and I've gotten no...

I was thinking masculine as well. I've never smelled anise, but I know a lot of soapers use it, so it might be worth getting a small bottle and testing it out.

Strawberries and Cream! I think that nailed it! I left it unscented for now. I'm pregnant and smells are overwhelming, lol. I also generally use EO's so I'm not sure what EO is out there that would work with the strawberries & cream. Ideas? I think I'm diggin' the layered look though 8)

Thanks everyone! I love my zebra soap!! I wonder what kind of scent would go with zebras? :P I don't think I've made the same batch twice in the year and a half I've been soaping, but I definitely think the zebras are here to stay.

Well, I still pulled it out of the freezer too soon, *rawr*! Partial gel :evil: But it still looks neat. The black is more of a dark gray/light black. Might up the charcoal next time. But, I really like it! Oh, and the mold is uh...I don't remember. This batch was 26oz of oils with...
