First attempt at Pine Tar and have weird granules in soap.

So I gave pine tar a go today for the first time. All went well except for these weird granules. Warmed pine tar can in hot water bath so it was easy to add and mix in my oils. Used 1 tsp sea salt completely dissolved in water before adding lye and mixing. Soaped at 95 degrees. Used T EDTA...

I am so sorry you are having to face this. It is so hard as our parents age as it is. Praying you find wise ways to deal with all the issues you face.

    Charcoal & Lavender

I love the look @Misschief. I made a charcoal batch this last weekend with lemongrass, I used 1 tsp. PPO. I am happy with the colour and tried a easy taiwan swirl for the top but it didn't turn out that great, passable but not great. I made them for the husband who loves lemongrass. He is lucky...

    Hand Writing on Labels?

I use the organza bags and attach a business card label via a hole punch. I tie the extra organza down to fit the soaps. I have the ingredients on the back of the card. I display the soap on the side without the label so you can see the soap design.

ROE and any other antioxidants in soap

I now use EDTA and ROE in every soap batch. I haven't had a DOS issue since I started using them. I followed @DeeAnna 's advise on here and from her classicbells soapy stuff pages. I am very thankful for that advise. I use a precision scale that weighs .01 g. I make smaller batches so sometimes...

    0.1 digital scale recommendations

I use the KD8000 as my main scale. I picked up a precision scale from a kitchen type shop that weighs to .01 g and has at least a 300 g max for sure. I make small batches of things and it is helpful weighing EDTA and ROE and other small things. I had looked for a larger scale that weighed to .01...

    Purple Lilac Soap

Very nicely done on the soap. I haven't had a colour morph on me yet in CP, now that I said that.... I usually read up on a colour and it there is any questions of how it will work I either don't buy or email for clarification. I have a nice soft purple and a lovely strong one. @Misschief, I...

    Year old soap questions

I do read reviews thoroughly before I purchase and always take them into consideration before I buy. I haven't noticed the fading usually starts until 6 or 8 months later. If a FO fades faster than that it is not repurchased. If it doesn't hold up in the shower it is not repurchased. So I am...

    Year old soap questions

So I have been soaping for a year and kept fairly decent records of batches, and any issues etc. I had 5 batches DOS in the first 50 and no DOS since (I'm at 108 batches). I have some pretty good ideas why they DOS'd. I now have 3 consistent recipes I use and am working on developing 2 more. I...
