    My 2018 Soaps

Thanks :) This was the cheapest label option for me. Little photoshop and about a hour or so and this was as good as I could get. Simple, but neat and nice to look at :)

How to add Super Slickness to Shaving Soap?

I got enough Glycerin. I've added Bentonite Clay. Silk added. High ammount of Steric Acid. High level of SF Tollow, Kokum, Shea.. What can be done to take the slickness to a super high level? Or is that pretty much it? Would like to try Duck fat, but not sure how much that would add to the...

    My 2018 Soaps

Just showing off the soaps I made this year. After all the testing, I now have a master recipe and these are my creations. Olive Oil, Babassu Oil, Palm Oil, Apricot Kernel Oil, Shea Butter, Castor Oil, Cocoa Butter, Avocado Oil, Fregrance Oil, Sweet Almond Oil, Sodium Lactate, May contain...

Lanolin in shaving soap not good?

I was just thinking. . Lanolin is not "SLICK" So would it create more of a sticky drag type feeling rather then a smooth slick feeling? Also, since the lanolin needs to be on the skin and left on for any possible benefits, the such small ammount that's in a shave soap is suspended in the soap...

Is there any benefit on using liquid glycerin in your batch?

Here's a soap from a local soap makers business that has Glycerin added on the list of ingredients, so I'm assuming it's extra added in. Doesn't do any good at all for my winter hands and it looks weird as shown in the pictures. I thought about adding extra until I tried this soap.

    Apricot Kernel Oil Any Good?

Was thinking about using Apricot Kernel Oil at around 12% to 14% with a 6% or 7% SF in CP recipe. Anyone use this oil in soap at this high of % find it adds a little extra goodnesss to your soap or no difference at all compared to using a oils? I'm not worried about cost since I don't make...

Why Olive Oil and not others for base oil?

ngian - Excellent video you made, one of the best lather test videos I've seen so far. I enjoyed reading your response to the topic, that is great information, especially on how your hands felt durring testing. I had no idea about the palmitoleic (C16:1), I will be looking into this further...

Why Olive Oil and not others for base oil?

I just used up the last of my oils a couple days ago for a 1lb batch. Non scented HP with 2 tsp of Colloidal Oatmeal. Has a nice nutty Oatmeal scent to it.

Vitamin E - Does it survive Saponification?

cmzaha - Yup. I've even had people impressed when they see Olive oil and Cocoa Butter on the label and AC.. lol I make no claims it does anything, but if they ask, I tell them AC is only good for color and the other oils are just what makes a good soap.

Vitamin E - Does it survive Saponification?

Another thing I wanted to add is if these vitamins do survive the soap process, couldn't you just empty a vitamin capsule and have even more vitamins in your soap? When one claims to love a type of oil because it's rich in vitamins or a specific vitamin and it's claimed to be soo good for your...

Vitamin E - Does it survive Saponification?

Have there been any real scientific test results on this yet for vitamin E or any other vitamins that are naturaly found in oils? I tried searching the forum, got no results. Googles is mixed results that are mostly opinions. One may choose a specific oil that is loaded with all kinds of good...

Why Olive Oil and not others for base oil?

Thank you again MorpheusPA. I just finished off the last of my oils and butters and thinking about which direction I wanna go when I resupply. I'm not worried about oil cost since I don't sell as a business. Experience from some of my finished soaps and ofcourse exploring soap calc, Olive oil...
