    Stearic Acid question

I finally made my soap. I scented it with lavender with a little bit of vanilla extract and it smells good. Skin still felt a little tight after using it in the shower so I may decrease the coconut oil to 15% and do 5% shea butter to make up for it. What other kind of fats should I try for to...

    Stearic Acid question

I've read that coconut oil should be used around 30-35% of your oils so that's why I'm using such a high amount. I'll lower it for my next bar and see how everything turns out. I'm going to use the recipe provided in an earlier comment and make some HP today.

    Stearic Acid question

Actually I have some palm oil and kernel flakes so I can use either if I need to. I used that much castor to get the conditioning up. I made an HP bar and I really liked the color and scent but when I used it, my skin felt so dry. I know that castor is good for conditioning and leaving the...

    Stearic Acid question

My recipe was 25% castor oil, 15% cocoa butter, 30% coconut oil, 25% olive oil, and 5% stearic acid. I do want a longer lasting bar so I'm open to all help. I don't have to use stearic acid at all or at any percentage. The first time I used it, I tried CP. This second time it was HP and went...

    Stearic Acid question

I bought a pound of stearic acid off Amazon to try to get the longevity of my soap up. The past 2 times I've used it, my soap instantly came together and was very hard to mix. The first I think it was 15-20% of my oil weight. The second time it was 5% of my oil weight. How do I use stearic...

    Sleep/Relaxation blends

Anyone have a good sleep or relaxation FO that they use in CP soap? I usually shower at night before bed and want to make one that I can clean myself with that will also relax me and help me get to sleep.

    Sleep/Relaxation blends

Anyone have a good sleep or relaxation blend that they use in CP soap? I usually shower at night before bed and want to make one that I can clean myself with that will also relax me and help me get some sleep. I know lavender is big with that, anyone have any blends they want to share?

    Cold Process Beer Soap help

I'm looking to make a cold process bar using Sam Adams Octoberfest. I've made another beer soap using Kentucky Ale Bourbon Barrel by freezing the beer and adding the lye to the beer cubes so they would melt but not burn the sugars. The big problem I had was the Bourbon Barrel scent really...

    Unmolding and cutting question

When I unmold and slice my soap, I notice that the inside is still wet, my swirl will kind of run. It's not a clean, crisp swirl. It has drag marks from my cutter. Am I unmolding and cutting it too soon? I unmold and cut after 24 hours.

    Question about micas

How much oil should I mix them in?

    Question about micas

I ordered some micas and have been wondering, when I add them to my soaps, should I mix them in olive oil first or is it okay to put it in as a powder? Is there a reason to do it one way or the other or is it to each their own?

Do I need to cover my CP soap during the first 24 hours?

No, you're right, I am getting them confused. Thank you.

Do I need to cover my CP soap during the first 24 hours?

Yes, we have 2 cats. And what is gel? Does that mean it'll saponify faster?

Do I need to cover my CP soap during the first 24 hours?

I made 2 batches of CP soap and I've seen several tutorials online but they differ about what to do once you mold your batch. Some say cover it with a towel or cloth for 24 hours and others just say put it in the mold and let it sit for 24 hours. Any advice?

    Trace questions

So I've made 2 batches of HP soap and I think I got the trace right on each but I want to try CP soap now because it seems a lot of easier. I've watched some videos on Youtube and it seems like they are getting to light trace and then adding colorants and/or separating to do swirls. What does...

Is there an EO calculator anywhere?

The 6 grams would be 3% of my recipe.

Is there an EO calculator anywhere?

Okay, I'm better with an example so I'll give it to you. The recipe I come up with calls for a fragrance oil weight of 6 grams. If I want to use the oils: lavender, chamomile, marjoram, bergamot, and ylang ylang; how do I figure out how much to use of each one?

Is there an EO calculator anywhere?

I've developed some recipes on lye calculators but all it gives me is the total weight of the fragrances. Is there a calculator out there that I can put my recipe in and what oils I want to use and it will tell me how much of each? I've tried Brambleberry and TheSage but they only let me...
