    50lb pails of oil

I just got a 50lb pail of palm oil from Columbus Foods and it sounds a little sloshy. Does palm oil in this quantity come as a liquid or is this because its a little warm here today? Do I pry the lid off or do I open the pour spout and put it into more user friendly containers? I know that if...

    Buckling

My last few one pound batches of soap have been buckling up on top, in the center and they've looked a little sweaty. Am I over insulating? I am using a wooden mold with a top and I wrap it in a towel until it gels to the edges. Then I unwrap it and leave it sit with the top still on until...

    Order issues w/ Bramble Berry?

I was just wondering if anyone else has had trouble with their orders from Bramble Berry. My order a couple of weeks ago was missing four ounces of FO and the order I received today is missing SEVEN ounces. I really like their FO and they were quick to correct the first mistake and I'm sure...

My first couple batches of soap have been curing for three weeks and they are still a little soft. It feels like if you hit them with a meat tenderizer they would smush flat rather than dent. Strange visual but I don't quite know how to describe it. The 2mm thick edges I cut off and left to...

    100% Coconut Oil

So I made my all coconut oil soap yesterday and I just barely superfatted it at 2%. It was only a one pound batch and it set up rather quickly, within 4 hours. Is this the case when you have the saponification percent closer to zero? Or is this just because of the hard coconut oil? It was so...

    Hard soap for laundry

I am trying to find the best recipe for cp soap that would yield a nice hard bar, without using lard, that I could then shred for laundry powder. I am currently using ivory soap because it has the least amount of unnecessary ingredients but I would rather make my own. Any good ones?

    Hello!

Just thought I'd say hello from Wisconsin. I used to help my Grandma cut her soap but I never made my own until last week. I have already made three batches and am poised to make more this weekend! I've fully jumped in with both feet and I am hooked. Glad to be here!
