Orange and star anise is such a sleeper, so underrated. Love it. I find that kaolin in my citrus soaps keeps the scent around longer.

Dear me, a partial gel on your first soap isn't the end of the world. You don't need to rebatch and burn yourself in the process. Also, don't try doing 4 colors at once.

They sure can. Anything super fragrant can cause a headache, especially if you aren't in a well ventilated area.

Maybe consider swirling it in instead of having distinct layers. Clear MP drop swirls can look great in cp.

So, from what I can see, both of those are used as fillers in soap manufacturing. Instead of talc, you'd be better off with titanium dioxide for whitening or kaolin clay for oil absorbing, and sodium lactate to harden instead of sodium silicate. You... aren't planning on selling, are you...

What kind of additives? Color, scent, exfoliating bits?

Honestly, not really! I've forgotten to add SL to batches before (I mostly use 3 recipes, so they were exactly the same barring pigment/scent), and while they were noticeably softer in the beginning, they didn't seem to lather any better after they were cured.
