    Citric acid on labels?

I've started experimenting with adding citric acid to my soap recipe. I use the Soapee Calc to figure out the amounts of CA and Lye. I've always labeled my soaps simply: Saponified Coconut OIl, Olive Oil, etc... Then putting for additives like this: "Also: Peppermint Essential Oil (or...

No ghost swirls for me today.

I was making a 100% olive oil (pomace) soap today. No scent. I thought that it might be fun to do a ghost swirl. I've never done one before. I watched several videos a few times, taking notes. I have also started incorporating citric acid into my lye solutions at 2% PPO. I ran the numbers for...

Citric Acid forming crystals on soap

Another member had mentioned that using citric acid in her cp soap sometimes caused crystals to form on her soap. Has anyone else experienced this? Ideas on cause, or cures? Thanks!

    Melt & pour from scratch

I recently saw a couple of videos on making a from scratch Melt & pour base. When she had completed it, she poured it into a big mold to harden. Then she unmolded it cut off a few pieces and chopped it up, melted it and poured it into cute little molds. My question is do you have to actually...

Any suggestions to make Lavender scent stick in EO CP soap?

I have paired it with Eucalyptus before, and liked it myself, but have had a number of customers hate Eucalyptus, and really noticed it. (I didn't particularly notice in the blend, but it helped make my Lavender EO "pop" more. Just wondered if there were other EO's that wouldn't overpower the...

    Soleseife curing

I made 1b recipes. They made 6 bars 3.2" x 2.2" x .94" (my mold size) plus a little more that I spooned into 1 and a half silicone cupcake liners. The first couple of bars, I could pour, but the last couple, I was spooning into the molds. I wasn't super thick, and I could smooth out the tops...

    Soleseife curing

Soap Queen says: "Soleseife (or brine soap) is the German name for soap made with salt water. Brine soap is a fantastic alternative to the standard salt bar. The salt is dissolved into the lye water leaving a smooth-textured, creamy white, extremely hard bar of soap" Soleseife: pronounced...

    Soleseife curing

I've read that salt bars are best if cured 6+ months. Is that same true for Soleseife soap, since it has so much less salt? I'm experimenting with a recipe that has 70% Coconut oil, (76 degree), and 10 % each of Cocoa Butter, Avocado Oil, and Castor Oil.

    WSP Barber Shoppe

Has anyone had success using this in CP soap? On the WSP website, it says that it accelerates trace, and may cause ricing. The reviews range from "soap on a sticK", to "behaved perfectly". Just curious if specific oils, or temperature, or water discount that made a difference. Thanks in advance!

    Charcoal and fragrance

I've read that some soapers use clays to "anchor" or protect fragrance in their soap. Would charcoal do the same thing? Or would it diminish the scent, since it is an "odor absorber"? Thanks in advance!

    Higher water content

Thank you so much! I can see you have a lot of experience and wisdom in this area. I will keep researching and learning, and then experimenting.

    Higher water content

I have made bar soaps for many years now. But I'd like to try making some liquid soap, especially a 100% olive oil Castille. I watched videos and seen how people make this thick paste and I was wondering if instead of making a paste I could add more water at the beginning and have it be thinner...
