Sparkling Lemon Wonder

I haven't made soap in over a year, so to make up for it yesterday I made laundry soap (DeeAnna's method), liquid Castile soap (Irish Lass's method) and some soap using up random bits of oils that were cluttering up the cupboard.

My soleseifes (100 percent olive oil, made with seawater) are always ashy. I think it add character:)

I have a couple of batches made with seawater from 2017. I just checked them, and there is no sign of DOS and I live in a fairly humid climate. (They aren't wrapped). They did develop a soda ash layer, that washes off. Our water is so hard it is practically solid, so any soap creates scum. I...

I never use fragrances or colorants. The one time I did add essential oils (peppermint) I couldn't stand the smell of the soap curing.

You can substitute the seawater for all of the water in your soap. The lye mix will end up cloudy, but this is normal.

I've used almond milk from a carton. It makes a nice soap, but I found it tricky to get to trace. It seemed to get nice and thick but separated. in the mould. It wasn't zappy, and rebatched okay, though it looks like rice pudding.

Took the lid off the crockpot to look at my liquid soap, which is resolutely not diluting, put the lid back on again and did something else.

I use stainless steel saucepans, in various sizes. I bought them all in charity shops.
