    Salt bars

I've made very few salt bar batches. My notes say I loved them at around 3 weeks, and REALLY loved them at 2-4 months. These were 75% Coconut, 1:1 salt to oil ratio, and 5% superfat.

Soap workspace - advice? Must haves?

I am in the midst of building a dedicated soap house/art studio. I'm a super slow builder, so it's a sloooooow process, allowing me lots of time to think and re-think. Important things for soaping, to me: - a deep sink with a sprayer head - a generous amount of counter-top space that is...

    All natural fragrance oils

Oh, but it will, at least for a few weeks. It gives soap a sort of Graham whafer-y scent. Case in point: I made an unscented soap for someone who wanted a baby soap a while back, and, when I gave it to her a few weeks later, she said how much she liked the fragrance. The only thing in there...

    Soap Calc's are decieving!

Do y'all think we could just let the OP continue to post, unanswered, into oblivion, and let this stupid thread die? Let's start now: no more replies to this idiocy. Seriously. Step away from the thread.

    Soap Calc's are decieving!

What psfred said. Exactly that. And also: LOL, I feel like I was utterly too polite in my response. Bang on. Save

    Soap Calc's are decieving!

From what I can understand, the OP seems to be concerned about fitting a given volume of raw soap into a mold, and excited about the fact that if you use more water in your lye solution (40% solution vs, say 50% solution), you are going to have more total volume for a given mass of oil. That's...

How to get the best online sales?

I hope voicing my uneasiness is not considered "slamming" Tabitha. I don't intend to attack anyone, but I do think it is fair to air a concern if I have one. I've got no personal beef with Tabitha and I'm sure she's a great person and a fantastic SMF resource. I'm assuming that it's OK for...

How to get the best online sales?

And, in my opinion, it is doubly inappropriate if it comes as a sort of official "as moderator" statement, because that may, in some people's minds, give it credibility. Not cool. Oh, and sorry for the hijack, Ashley.

What's Your Middle Name? Your High School Knick Name?

My middle name is Jean. I didn't really have any nickname in high school. Up until then, it was The Brain. I don't think it carried on into high school, though (although the good marks did 8) ). In case you're picturing me as a taped-glasses nerd, I was also MVP on the track team and...

    soap logs

Those are marvelous! I love them all, especially the sandalwood swirl one and the cucumber one.

How to get the best online sales?

Hi Dan. I've got no issue with someone pointing out that you haven't sold soap, if they think it's relevant. I don't personally think it is, but the relevance can be debated and may the best debater win. What stuck in my craw was the "as moderator" deal. I've got a problem with mods seeing...

    Finally, one I'm happy with!

You left out the square bracket on the end of that first "quote" word. Beautiful soap!! Love the swirl. What do those scents actually smell like?

How to get the best online sales?

Tabitha, not to be a cow or anything (and I'm sure it's just a fabulous idea for me to dis a moderator), but I find this kind of commentary to be an odd thing for a mod to do. There have been plenty of posts in this forum giving questionable opinions or advice, without being editorialized by a...

You are a funny man. And I like your soaps. That lavender one sounds great.

The Great Fug-Off: FINAL SLAP DOWN Poop vs Amityville

Maybe the winner should get a special delivery of all the ugly bars that were in contention...

The Great Fug-Off: FINAL SLAP DOWN Poop vs Amityville

OK, SMF has voted, and we've got our Final Two in our little reality show. The face-off in The Great Fug-Off final slap down is between Poop (Kitn): and Amityville Horror Salt Bar (LJA): Voting shall close sometime based on my whimsy, over the weekend.

    The Great Fug-Off (Pool 2)

Polls are closed. All righty, we had a bit of a horse race, but Amityville Horror wins the day. On to the Slap Down.

    The Great Fug-Off (Pool 1)

OK, the polls are closed. We have a landslide victory by Poop. On to the Slap Down.

    Questions about Canadian labelling

Sorry I missed this, Ashley. My French is very good (but not perfect). I would change the first sentences to read: "Consulter la liste d'ingrédients avant d'ultiliser. En cas d'irritation cutanée, interrompre l'usage." The final sentence reads fine to me, except that I would add the word "par"...

    Natural Pink colourant

It's shredded up soap that looked very much like the pink base (bottom layer) of the layered soap. Here you go: http://www.soapmakingforum.com/forum/vi ... ght=yellow
