    high linolenic oil for superfat

Thank you so much for the reply! Now I have work to do, research and learn about salt metathesis, etc. I like how you said " (at least most people say so)" and that's what I gathered from searching on the forum, I couldn't find anything concrete. So much more helpful than flippantly replying!

    high linolenic oil for superfat

Does anyone have any experience of using high Linolenic oils such as Flaxseed/Linseed or Pomegranate oils for superfatting a hot process soap. I understand oils high Linolenic oils cause DOS. But I'm thinking of using one of these at about 2% along with some other oils.

whisky as part of a fragrance

Anyone try using whisky or bourbon as a component of a fragrance in hot process soap. Would the alcohol evaporate and the whisky scent remain? I bought a whisky fragrance oil. I didn't like it, it like a complete scent and that's not what I'm looking for.

Can it be saved, too much fragrance in hot process soap

Thanks for the reply! I doubled the fragrance, I was planing on using 3.5%. But since the batch is small, I might risk it, and see what happens. I'll report back.

Can it be saved, too much fragrance in hot process soap

I made a batch of hot process soap and I added too much fragrance. Can it be saved if I made a batch of unscented soaps the mixed both batches in a crockpot? Would the heat damage the fragrance?

    Castor oil in shaving soap

Could you please elaborate on the many factor you mention. Maybe I can get few tips from you. Thank you in advance. I did have problems with scents using soy wax at 50% (100% hydrogenated soy wax - additives free). I was only using essential oils. EO don't seems to have the tenacity FOs...

    Castor oil in shaving soap

I heard that soy wax doesn't hold fragrance very well. Is that true?

    Castor oil in shaving soap

Wondering if anyone have an answer to this question. I didn't want to ask this question on wetshaving forums because most of the people there don't make soap but seem to have a strong opinion on this issue! Why do so many wet-shavers eschew soaps that are made with Castor oil in high...

Soap slickness, KOH and refinded fats

I definitely disagree about clay that it would dull your razors. I make my own soap I put Kaolin clay in it. I also use Mikes Natural Soap, Bufflehead Soap, Sudsy Soapery, all contain various clays. These are are very respected soaps and have not dulled any of my extra hollow razors, which I use...

Xanthan gum or Guar in soap

Wow, tiny batches. I only have a big crock pot. Do you cook your batches on top of the stove, double boilers? I do have scales that are 0.1g resolution.

When to add glycerine to hot process shaving soap

I did added it at the end for my most recent batch, but I'll add it at the beginning of the next batch, to see if it makes any difference. I thought this was interesting, and I want to see how I can solidify the soap by increasing the Stearic Acid (from soy wax and Kokum butter) Tons of...
