    Packaging bath bombs

If you are not using vented shrink bags, snip the very tip of one corner after sealing them with your impulse sealer. Hold the bath bomb in your hand bottom side up, hit it with the heat gun just long enough to draw the wrap to the bottom of the bath bomb. Set the bath bomb on your table or...

    The candle maker store

Well, that escalated quickly ..... I've bought some scents from The Candle Maker Store. I've never had a problem with them. They did at that time let you know which fragrances are skin safe and which are not. I tend to soap everything at .7 ppo and didn't have a problem with their fragrances.

    Navy Blue Soap

I've never used it, so maybe someone else will chip in. But, doesn't indigo give the color you're looking for?

Hump fat soap - 1st test

I think it would be cool just to make a batch or two with it.

Hump fat soap - 1st test

You'd be surprised what you can legally buy on the interweb ... It's a little pricey. But it's available. https://www.exoticmeatmarkets.com/Camel-Hump-Fat-2-Lbs-Exotic-Meat-Market-p/camelfats32.htm

    My bathbombs crack! WHY??

As an aside. I see a lot of you measuring in cups, 1/2 cups, Tbs and tsp. If I were to make a suggestion, it would be to work your recipes in terms of weight (i.e grams), then figure out the percentages of each ingredient you are using. It makes it easier to "tweek" your recipe and overcome any...

    My bathbombs crack! WHY??

No water, alcohol or witch hazel. I use oils and Polysorbate 80. I also add Kaolin to mine. The Polysorbate and Kaolin are at an equal percentage to my fragrance oil. Since I started using only oils, PS-80 and fragrance oil, along with Kaolin, I haven't had any issues with cracking and I use the...

June SMF Challenge- sci-fi themed soap

Thank You! I plan to get some more molds for melt and pour so I can play with this technique some more. It's really fun and different from what I usually do.

    Fragrance oils that stick.

I've been helping my uncle deal with his health issues, pushing two of my kids to reach their potential, gently nudging another to help him find his way and doing craft/vendor events to "relax" from all of the above .... Sometimes in the process of living life, you forget about some of the...

    Fragrance oils that stick.

I have used their Fresh Pear, Honey Almond and Oatmeal, Milk & Honey. They all stuck as well as any other fragrance oil I've used. A word about the Honey Almond. If you're looking for one with more of a nutty, amaretto fragrance, theirs isn't the one for you. Theirs has more of a flowery...

My first shaving soap is a success!

OK, so I unmolded and cut this soap today. Keep in mind that I am a novice/amateur when it comes to loading a shave brush. (i.e. there was a lot more lather than this, but I had trouble getting it all on the brush). This soap absolutely exploded as soon as I started swirling the slightly damp...

June SMF Challenge- sci-fi themed soap

I called this soap "Jupiter Moon". This was right after the cut. The soap was still a little soft. I didn't gel because of the Melt and Pour "moon" and not wanting it to melt.

My first shaving soap is a success!

I didn't think about the "rustic" v. "finished" look aspect. That makes a lot of sense.

My first shaving soap is a success!

Well, that was interesting. I didn't get soap on a stick. In fact, everything went pretty much as Lee described it in his blog. I got mashed potatoes almost instantly. Kept stirring and that became apple sauce. I let it cook for about half an hour only because there was no zap at that time. By...

June SMF Challenge- sci-fi themed soap

Interesting challenge. Sounds fun. I actually made an "Alien Landscape" soap earlier this month. I've been fascinated with landscapes and hybrid (Melt and Pour/CP) soaps for a few months; so, I wanted to do something that combined the two in a simple way. I've been away from the forum for a...

My first shaving soap is a success!

Ahhhh, I've finally finished reading this thread. It has been too long since I last visited this forum. A thread like this is a good reminder of why I like it here so much. The sharing of ideas and experiments. The sheer amount of creativity and diversity of thought. Thank you to everyone who...

    (Yet another) bath bomb questions

I use a light oil, PS80, and slsa. Use PS80 at an amount equal to your fragrance oil. And if you do use slsa, remember to account for the added dry ingredient by increasing the amount of oil you use or by a few more spritzes of alcohol. Also, I use Kaolin at 2% of my total recipe in my bath...

Mad Oils Mica Sale + Free Shipping

I miss being around this place ... it's been a loooong six months with the young teen graduating and the 69 year old teen having some health issues. Plus, I started selling and things have taken off a little bit. Which, I really wasn't prepared for. Selling is hard in ways that you don't think...
