I think I understand that the salinity is about 35% and that salt helps to harden the bar. Should I leave out the sodium lactate when making this type of soap? My worry is that too much salt could make the bar crumbly.

I've been working on creating fluid HP soap and have made 5 batches this far, but not happy with the roughness of the top layer. I know it's supposed to have a rustic look, but looking for tips and tricks for creating an attractive top layer on the soap.

Hello, how does superfatting work? I'm doing HP and am using soapcalc, which has an entry for the % of superfat in the recipe, which can be adjusted. Do I stick to the recipe but add the superfat percentage of oils/butter/fat later in the recipe? How do I know how much to adjust? I like to use...
