    Adding cologne to soap???

Hi!! Haven’t been here in a while and hope everyone is doing well! I’m extatic to have SOLD OUT of soap completely this holiday season and even more extatic to make a zillion more batches... I have a gentleman customer who wants a custom batch of soap that smells like his cologne. From the...

    Sandalwood Powder

Oh, and I really am hating how grey it turned out. Still, will use it for the lavender bars but does this color scream "hibiscus lemonade"??? I don't think so. Now I have to redesign some labels too! Dear Sandalwood, why must you be so deceiving?

    Sandalwood Powder

That first cut gave me high hopes! It has been almost a week now, soap has been cut and is curing and is much harder now. Unfortunately, the color hasn't stayed and we have a different purple now. It is a lighter in real life, the photo doesn't do it a lot of credit. It is still really pretty...

    Sandalwood Powder

Couldn't wait any longer. Took it out of the fridge and cut into it. The ugliness is from the rough, barbarian way I cut the cold loaf but this is what the end piece looks like. That purple is from the sandalwood. I will wait for it to warm up a bit before cutting the rest.

    Sandalwood Powder

Just made the soap and will post pictures when I cut it in 48 hours. Here's what happened: I was planning to make an orange and white marbled soap, scented with sweet orange and lemon. I separated the infused olive oil and plain olive oil and mixed half of my oils and butters with the infused...

    Sandalwood Powder

Hello! A reeeeeally long time ago I purchased a stash of all natural soap colorants. One of these was called "red sandalwood powder" but it looked really orange... think the skin of a naval orange type-of-orange. I read briefly about sandalwood turning soap red, maroon, or purple-ish. I am...

    Curing in the Fridge

Thanks for the replies and freezer tip. I definitely unmolded mine too soon and proceeded to cut it. The slices don't look that great but I think it will pass as some kinda "rustic" look. I'll most likely end up giving it away to friends and family anyway. It is day 2 for my soap and it has the...

    Curing in the Fridge

Hello! *Finally* I have achieve a cream-colored goat milk soap. Didn't burn the lactose at all, for now at least. It only took me 2 hours to accomplish  but I couldn't be happier with the way it looks. I mixed they lye and milk in an ice batch this time. Mixed 71* lye with 80*...

    Coloring Soap/Staining

Hello! I have been making goat milk soap for a short while now and I am getting tired of the dull-brown color I usually get from it. I have concocted a new recipe and I assume if I keep it in an ice bath (while making) and then in the fridge (while curing) I will have a much lighter color to...

Curing + pH for Goat Milk Soap

To think that there are actually people out there licking their soap gives me a good laugh! But if you say it's an accurate test, I'm willing to give it a shot. The recipe I used was: 30 oz olive oil 15 oz coconut oil 16 oz goat milk 6.4 oz lye 4 tbsp. oats dash of fragrant spices There is SO...

Curing + pH for Goat Milk Soap

Hi everyone!! I finally got around to making some goat milk soap with the correct lye! Now I can't wait to use it but I am getting mixed information about curing and what the pH would be. I read that it must cure for 3-4 weeks (mine has been curing for 1) and another source says it must...

    Goat Milk Soap... Colostrum

Hi everyone! I have been hoping to make some goat milk soap for ages now and finally have some milk set aside for it. The milk I froze is from newly freshened goats (at least a week after kidding) and I know it has some colostrum in it. I'm wondering if this milk will react differently...
