    Favorite Market/Show Questions

    My favorite question is "doesn't the lye make the soap really harsh?" Well, not if you don't make lye heavy soap. My stepdaughter won't use my soap because it's made with lye. She has to use the store bought soap.

    Can I use a food dehydrator for my soap?

    Take it from someone who tried just that. The soap gels and gets real mushy in a dehydrator. Not good. You can't get it out because it sticks to the mesh on the trays. And it takes a much longer time then to harden enough you can actually touch it without leaving fingerprints.

    Soap Bloopers!

    My favorite blooper was when I made soap for my 3 grandsons. I made it a dark blue with ultra marine oxide. My daughter laughed and said her youngest (3 years old at the time) loved it because it turned him blue. Thankfully it rinsed right off.

    You know you're a soapmaker when...

    how about saving every empty container you can just in case you might use them for molds (just found a use for one of them). And I also go to the grocery store and finally talked my hubby into letting me get some grape seed oil. The oils section is my favorite.
