K..I made soap...my recipe: 44 oz olive oil, 17 oz coconut oil, 24 oz veg. Shortening, 10.7 oz lye, 16 oz frozen goat milk, 16 oz water and 2 oz cocoa butter...when I unmolded, they are very soft and oily...what did I do wrong, or is it just the recipe? Both oil and lye mixture were 100 degrees...

Guess that takes care of that...thanks dagmar...you just saved me from waistline more oil.....now all I have to do is figure out what to do with 10 yrs growth of comfrey...lol

Thanks for the link MK...I will check that out..yea jenee that was me. I did go to YouTube and found a vid about wilting overnight, put in a jar, cover with olive oil and leave for 14 days, shaking everyday, which I did, but what a surprise my nose had when I opened it. I never knew olives...

Susy...thanks for posting. I also made gm soap yesterday... I used It frozen because I was afraid it would burn... I unfolded today and yep...it kind of stunk...not quite sure of what, but it stinks... I am going to take all the advice and let it sit for awhile and see what happens....hope...

Ok...just drained my comfrey infused olive oil...is it supposed to have a smell? :oops:

Will the oil spoil or the soap? I'm sorry for the dumb question, but I'm still new at this.. Lol

I did let the leaves wilt, but did not dry them. I have them in the olive oil now and will leave them there until the 28th. I guess we will see how this works. Wish me luck.

Can comfrey be added to soap? I was thinking of making like a tea with it and using that for my lye mixture.. Will that work? I'm very open to suggestions. I have comfrey coming out of my ears!! Also, I have seen a lot about super fatting.. Can someone please explain this to me? I'm not...
