You get what you pay for!

I am using Simplers Essential Oils, and the Rose Otto alone was costing me $7.20, using 3 drops, as each drop is $1.80, as the 1 mL vial I bought from my herbalist shop cost me $38. As I said, I need to get wholesale pricing.

    Preservative info....

I'm trying to develop a completely natural body care line, but I've been quite dismayed to see how much everyone is saying about how important preservatives are. I had been hoping to develop a completely natural line, but at the same time, I want my products to be safe and stable in regards to...

Need a preservative for my lotion

I have made a few batches of creams, and found out some things from trial and error. 1) Make sure you use distilled water as your water portion, or a hydrosol. The distillation process removes a lot of things that will make your cream go bad. 2) Make sure you use as high quality of stable...

    Made my first lotion today

Also, the solid oils you use in your lotion will affect how stiff your lotion is. Cocoa butter is notorious for making a very stiff cream when combined with the same amount of beeswax that you use for a formula that uses just coconut oil or shea butter. I only use a half ounce of cocoa butter to...

    baby balm/ diaper cream?

I came up with what I call Bum Balm, and after fighting a diaper rash for two weeks while using it (it didn't clear it up, but it made his bum feel better, which encouraged me) I got the inspiration to add powdered propolis to the balm. Worked like magic!

You get what you pay for!

Thanks for the informative posts guys! I've been working on my skincare products for almost a year now, and I think that I'm ready to start trying to get my line ready for selling, but I was too nervous about buying essential oils online because I was afraid of getting inferior oils that had...

Using Herbal Infused Oils for Soap and Shampoo

No, I haven't been using a preservative. The recipe books have been saying to refrigerate it, or use it within a month. I was wondering, do you think borax would work as a preservative? How much would you think I should use for 8 ounces?

Using Herbal Infused Oils for Soap and Shampoo

What's funny is that my ratio is greater towards the soap than my natural body care recipes have recommended to me. :D I have added more soap to the recipe, and have had varying degrees of success, but I'm stubborn, and want to figure this out! My herbal recipe is quite diverse, as I used the...

Using Herbal Infused Oils for Soap and Shampoo

Holy cow! I'm in the right place! :D Not 100% certain on rates, I'll post what quantities I've been using: The last herbal infusion I made, I poured boiling water over my herbs and let them steep all night, and then strain them in the morning. I got 17 ounces of liquid, and I used almost half...

Using Herbal Infused Oils for Soap and Shampoo

I've been experimenting with herbal infused oils, and was wondering as to whether the good qualities of the botanicals that get transferred to the oil during the infusion stay in the oil after being made into soap? I've been making my own herbal shampoos, and would like to have more cleansing...

    Frigga here... :)

Hi, I call myself Frigga on forums. I've been involved with making body care products for the last year, and finally decided that I wanted to join an online community for it. I've been mostly making facial scrubs, balms, creams, massage oils, and herbal shampoos, and learning about aromatherapy...
