What soapy thing have you done today?

Zany, I’m happy to hear that your mother is doing well after that scary experience. Glad she’s in good spirits and I’m happy that you got to talk to her and send her a care package. Sunrise, the molds were all silicone. Found them on amazon. They were early Christmas presents from my husband...

What soapy thing have you done today?

I made salt bars using aloe vera juice in place of the water in my lye mixture. Tried to use indigo powder as well and was a bit disappointed they they came out Grey instead of blue.

    Christmas 2017

Oh no, not at all. We just put up our little rinky dink fake tree yesterday. I don’t feel the whole Christmas spirit this year for some reason. Maybe it’s because I have two kids under five years old this year? You would think having kids would put you in the super Christmas spirit ... but no...

    Calendula Soap

Thank you for the tips everyone! I’ll try infusing them in oil next time around. See if I can get a deeper color out of them. I wish all plants behaved this well in soap!

    Calendula Soap

First time using calendula flowers in my soap! I infused them in water and used that on my lye mixture. The lye mixture had a nice deep orange to it, but once everything got mixed and came to trace, it was more of a very light peach color. Still love it though! I have a giant bag of the flowers...

    Christmas Tree Soap Experiment

I really wanted to make a Christmas Tree shaped soap for gifts this year, but I don’t have a mold in that shape. So I got a bit creative! My original plan was to just carve my soap bars up into the shape of Christmas trees. But then I realized I had a cookie cutter in that shape, so I tried...

What soapy thing have you done today?

I made an “ombré” soap on Friday. Not sure if I like it. Think I’ll try a different color next time.

    Avoidance issues

I’m going to jump on the apology wagon as well. I know I posted something in a thread recently that I probably shouldn’t have. I don’t post much. I like to sit back and read what others have said. I admit that I got a bit caught up in all the hoopla though. I almost didn’t post anything, but...

    First goat milk soap!

I don’t think sage powder would be scratchy. It’s pretty fine. I’ve never tried it up until now. The crushed mint and parsley leaves will most likely be scratchy a bit. I expected that though.

    Count the safety issues

Holy wow! That’s just a big nope! ... Man oh man, I don’t even really have words for that video.

    First goat milk soap!

The lather is great! I was a bit worried about lack of bubbles (I know bubbles don’t mean cleanliness exactly, but it’s fun to see giant bubbles appear from your soap), but they were pretty significant! My hands feel really smooth and soft too.

    First goat milk soap!

I leave my SF at 5% on all my recipes so far. Maybe I should play around with that number a bit. And yes, I figured the same thing as far as too much sugar, would happen in this goat milk soap. So I added a bit of salt. Worked out perfectly! If I make an apple cider soap again, I’ll be sure to...

    First goat milk soap!

It wasn’t apple cider vinegar. Just plain apple cider (literally apple juice, cloves and cinnamon that I simmered together on the stove). Maybe I should be calling it apple spice instead? ... Though now I’m curious to try a vinegar soap!

    First goat milk soap!

And a minty one at that. I went a little overboard with this batch. There’s a lot going on in these. Goat milk, ground oats, crushed mint and parsley leaves, colored with sage powder, and scented with lemongrass and eucalyptus EOs. I didn’t have any issues with it though! Besides a very...
