I recently tried this oatmeal lavender soap I found online. When I polled it out of the mold it smelled great until I cut it. After I cut it I smelled this horrid smell. I was going to try and re batch it but after it sat for a few hours the icky smell went away. Is this normal?

Yes, sometimes. Always let your soap sit a while before deciding it's a goner.

did it have any milk in it? milk can give you a funky scent at first...

This is very normal. Be patient....it should mellow out nicely after a few days or maybe even weeks.
