Foaming soap basics?

Hi all, foaming soap newbie here - I just put together my first "from scratch" foaming soap recipe (used this one) and I am finding that the foam is a little wet and thin - does that mean I need to add more surfactant? What are some good resources for learning about these ingredients and how they all affect the final product? I have been doing melt and pour for years, but this is a whole other level!

Pretty sure I didn't screw up ingredients, however I DID end up adding too much baking soda to increase the pH at the end so had to drop it down again with lactic acid. Perhaps that process screwed something up?

I have tried before using castile soap, but I don't like the scent of castile soaps, so I thought I would go this route...

Thanks, that is where the recipe came from, but it doesn't really get into how to adjust formulations from what I could find.

If your foaming hand wash is too thin, next time experiment with less water. If your formula contains Cocamidopropyl betaine, you might want to increase the percentage rate. "Cocamidopropyl betaine makes products feel creamier. It's a thickening agent that adds viscosity to products."
