Hello! So frustrated. I couldn't sleep and here it's 1:30 a.m. So I thought I would make a quick batch of soap while my family sleeps. I measured everything except my lye out. I measured my lye last. I was 1 little teeny tiny ounce of lye short!! Has this ever happened to you?
All measured out and not enough lye!!!

Yes, it has, and is it ever aggravating! I just transfer oils to a closeable container, and call it good while I impatiently wait for more lye. Matter of fact, I am running to the hardware store today for more lye. I have the recipe all planned and printed, and the EOs pre-mixed and waiting, and... not enough lye, grr.
1oz? If that was a big batch then it would have not been too bad - a tad more sf. On a smaller batch though it might well be a heck of a difference.
In my fridge at the moment is a sealed pot with a shaving soap mixture - there was no room for it in the slow cooker so now it is waiting for the next time I am making it! So it happens to us all. As Susie said, just keep the oil mix for next time.
By the way, soaping at 1:30am suggests some issues

good workYeah, well, I was reading SMF at 2:29am. Insomnia is something you either learn to live with or end up on lots of meds that I don't want to take.

Ugh how I relate. Been there, done that. I too just covered everything up till the next morning.

So this literally just happened to me. Only I am .15 oz short.
Now just waiting for hubby to get home so I can run to Ace.

It was a perfect excuse to stock up, I have way too many soaps I want to make so having everything ready and missing some lye means hubby doesn't ask questions.
