I usually make CP, but have been experimenting with HP. I decided to make
a soap cake using an FO that had a lot of vanilla in it, hoping to avoid the long cure.
When I do it in CP,
it discolors to a lovely ebony brown over the course of 3-4 days. (Bramble
Berry's Dark, Rich Chocolate)

I added the FO after the cook, before I put the soap into the mold.
It was difficult to stir it well throughout , and I was unsure of how much
time I had. I removed the cake from the mold the next day, and it began to
discolor unevenly. I thought that it would look like a marble cake, but it is
not very attractive. The parts that were white are a dirty looking brown.

So- my question to you HPers is: How do I get the FO evenly throughout the
batter? Do I add it at trace? then do I risk losing strength of smell? Will
adding more assure a good scent? I surely want an evenly "chocolate" cake.
Any suggestions?

i use a hand mixer to mix my scents evenly when i HP. it worked on my batch that discolored into a dark brown, the color was even.

I find it easiest for me to add the fragrance to the oil I save for superfatting (I include 3% sf in recipe and save 5+% to add after cook) - then when time to add that, I slowly pour it in while stirring (I use a good quality rubber spatula for it with a bit of a curve for picking the soap up gently without it sliding everywhere), but just in one spot along the edge at first, and then instead of stirring that outwards towards the unstirred portion of the soap, I stir the rest of the soap over and thru the part of the batch that has most of the sf oil and fo... if that makes sense lol... It only takes a minute I swear lol.

So- as long as I keep it hot in the crockpot I can work with it? That sounds
good. Do I wait until it's all gelled and ready to go into the mold?

BTW that FO produces white lather, but as it runs down into the sink, it
looks brown, like using cocoa powder to color. Interesting

Healinya- I used a spatula, but I guess I didn't do it thoroughly enough.
I didn't know that I had a lot of time.
