    Starting to think about fall

Bendel Bean dupe, I really love it. Colored with yellow oxide and cocoa powder. Has a late summer/early fall look to me. Done subconsciously, wasn't my intention, lol.

    going through gel

I caught my soap going through gel. I'm sharing this pic for the curious, since gel vs non gel is discussed often on here. This soap is 100% coconut, unscented uncolored laundry bars. my soaping temp was around 120. The pic was taken about 10 after the pour.

    Aloe FO

Made this one earlier in the week, as always it's GM soap. The FO from soapsupplies.net. Smelled GREAT in the bottle, after soaping with it... not so much. All I'm getting is a weak anise smell :-? I soaped at cool temp and put the loaf in the freezer.

Which is prefered a solid bar made with sodium hydroxide, a paste with potassium hydroxide, or something in between. I've settled on a recipe to try, but I'm not sure which lye to use. I'm also curious what a man would prefer,(bar vs in a jar). Also This isn't being made for customers...just a...

    Soap inspired by Slash

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hg3BYU2U6ic I was inspired by this scene from November Rain One of my favorite music videos/guitar solos/guitarists! I just love the back round. The white church against the gray Mt and cloudy sky on the dusty prairie. I was going for a light terracotta, I...

    candle atlernative

Do the smelly jellies and aroma beads sell as well/as popular as candles? I practicably rid our house of candles after the girls came along, so I can see how some one would prefer one over the other. I'm also assuming they are less expensive ? to make and sell.

    baby oil gel

Johnson's makes a baby oil gel, I use a ton of it, especially this time of the year. I use it as an after shower gel, it 'stays' on my skin longer then lotions, or plain baby oil. What I'm wondering, is there any way for me to recreate something like this product at home? Mineral Oil, Hexyl...

    another soapbox rant

I live in a very rural area of Tn. Just up the road is a Memonite community. The majority of my neighbors craft things for sale by hand, or in an old fashion manor. And this is to be commended, I have the utmost respect for anyone who lovingly fashions items by hand. There are many quaint and...

    Hand painted soaps

Does any one have any experience with these? I've seen them on etsy. I can't paint, to save my life! But I have some friends who can. I would supply the soap, they would do the art work. What I have in mind would be for decorative purpose only, and labeled as such. (sounds trite? I know) But...

    Skin safe

What makes, or who declares a FO skin safe? Is it just because 'the man' says so? Or is there an actual difference in the chemicals of skin safe fragrances? I'm asking out of curiosity not because I plan on soaping with candle FO's.
