Yes definitely add a butter...it keeps it softer and melts into your skin better.

That is just so scary! When will people understand that candle making is about doing it right! :roll: :roll: As you can see from the posts around here and else where..we all do things a little different.. But the point is to put out a great smelling safe burning product..

Candle Cocoon for my oils, wicks and wax. Indiana Candle Supply and Elements for a few more of my oils. Specialty Bottle and Walmart for my jars. ICS also has wick tabs and warning labels.

Like butters or skin loving oils? Rule of thumb? % I can add? I've got a few tubs of base in the pantry... Oh and adding collidial oatmeal or other powdery items...

Combustion aside...and oily candles aside..lol This is where testing comes in too. I use soy wax...it by nature doesn't hold as much fragrance oil...nor is it necessary. I'd put my 3% load candles against a "marketed" triple scenter..any day.. You are going to enjoy the envelopement of mine...

Glad it helped to do so...is there a way to preprime the wick in your wax? Something for the freshly poured wax to hold on to? Just thoughts...because like I said..no experience.. :mrgreen:

I've come back to this..I see that your picture is showing a wooden wick..I'm wondering if the larger surface of the wick has something to do with it too? I've not ever tested one myself..thought about it..but haven't yet.. Have you tried repouring cooler? How did it go?

No need to preheat your jars either... I only preheat my votive molds...never anything for container wax.

Ah then for sure you don't have to many vanillas. One of my very favorite personal scents....is Wood Violet and Sugar Maple from Oregon Trails...I make lotion bars for me in that scent..I have not found anything I do..to not work that scent. Candles,room spray, lotion bars.. It's old...

For oil, I like to use grapeseed a lot...I use it straight up as an eye make up remover. Aloe butter stays pretty smooth...And is another fav ingredient of mine!

I found a few recipes online and then manipulated them for me. I highly suggest to not scent until you figure out the blend you want. Here are a few that I play with. Gives you an idea of ratios and measurements. These all came from the web. Monoi Lotion Bar 1 oz beeswax 2.5oz Monoi or other...

May I ask what products you are selling? I personally don't think having a few vanilla based scents is a bad idea. A lot of people are drawn to the familarness of vanilla..but want something a little different..
